This could be because THEY'RE TWELVE NOT SIX!!!!! When I was 12 I had better things to do between the sheets than listen to a bedtime story.

You forget that half of twelve years olds cannot read, so they need to be read to.
That's a good point, that sort of 12 year old would probably need their asbo read to them.
Maybe this is because by the time you are twelve friggin' years old, you should be reading yourself?
