All the sons were educated at the International School of Berne in Switzerland. According to Kenji Fujimoto, a Japanese who worked as a sushi chef to Kim Jong Il and knew the children well, it was obvious that Kim Jong Un would eventually take over. “The older brother, Jong Chul, had the warm heart of a girl,” he told The Times. “The younger prince, Jong Un, was a boy of inner strength. If power is to be handed over, then Jong Un is the best for it,” Mr Fujimoto said. “He has superb physical gifts, is a big drinker and never admits defeat.”He sounds like Ken Livingstone.

Poor country.
There has probably never been a purer test of the claims of autarky and authoritarianism than North Korea. The contrast in results with the South (culturally the same, but engaged with the world and politically pluralistic) is as damning as it could possibly be.
"Poor country.".
Yep. Some of the stories exiles from NK have told are horrific.

Indeed, even though the South wasn't particularly open until the 1980s it was always vastly more free than the North.
