Luckily Rotherham Had A Campaigning MP

Throughout almost the entire period of the Rotherham Asian paedophile gangs running amok the town's MP was Denis Macshane. Two of the areas where he was an active campaigner were racism and criminal gangs sexually exploiting people. Yet when up to 1400 young girls were sexually abused by Pakistani gangs preying to a large extent on white girls he managed not to notice it at all.

Another triumph for the worst MP of the last fifty years.

Denis Macshane's False Claims

Denis Macshane's guilty plea to the charges of false accounting mean that he is destined for prison. I can't say I'm unhappy about this.

It is not his political beliefs that made him poisonous but his modus operandi- which was spreading repulsive smears about his opponents for the most minute political gains. Macshane neglected his constituency in favour of stealing public funds to swan around in Europe yet had the nerve to blame the rise of the BNP in his backyard on..... Conservative euroscepticism. He lied non stop about the supposed Nazi sympathies of the Tories' allies in Europe even suggesting that the Conservatives supported the Holocaust.

He  is a genuinely terrible human being.

The most hilarious aspect of all this is that he is apparently in a relationship with Vicki Price, the ex wife of Chris Huhne.

HA Ha ha ha...... OK More about Macshane.

After 12 solid hours of manic laughing, I thought I should write something else about Denis Macshane.

• Firstly, as has been pointed out, his apology wasn't to the tax payers who he ripped off but to the Labour Party.
• He also claims that he was doing it in the line of combating fascism- an cause he deploys in the same way Jimmy Savile used his charity work. It is hard to believe that someone who genuinely cared about fighting fascism would throw smears at legitimate political opponents with as much glee as Macshameless did.
• He still has apologists, like the Telegraph's Blairite Dan Hodges who argues that he did it because MPs are underpaid. I mean if you're earning less than £100 000, then you are bound to lie and steal. However it ignores the fact that Macshane's history of being a mendacious shit did not always involve monetary gain and long predates him becoming an MP. He was sacked by the BBC in the 1970s for pretending to be a caller to a phone in show for political gain, he put out an article "The Five Myths Muslims Must Deny" under the name of a Muslim colleague, he regularly invented links to neo-nazis among his political opponents, he used bogus statistics to denounce people traficking then slandered those who called him out on it,

He was a cancer on public life.

Denis MacShane Doesn't Like Wikipedia

It's an absolute disgrace apparently, asking a Justice Minister this question:

"What comment will the Minister make on the fact that Wikipedia publishes biographies of people that are then regularly amended to include untrue, defamatory and unpleasant language?

"Does he think that Wikipedia should inform those people whose biographies have been re-written in such a way that causes them damage and then allow a truthful statement to be made?
"At the moment, Wikipedia is an absolute disgrace, allowing the British National party, fascists, anti-Semites and other extremists to alter people's personal entries."

 Wikipedia should employ an army of staff to write to the subjects of articles every time it is edited?

There is some irony in Denis MacShameless complaining about defamation despite regularly smearing his opponents as Nazis, racists or supporters of human trafficking. It appears likely that he upset about some of the information contained in his Wiki-biography- the examples of lying, corruption and bullying are certainly unpleasant but I cannot see anything that is untrue.

Britain's Worst MP

Whilst Denis Macshane hangs around for now like a recalcitrant floater it seems that even if he does avoid spending the next few years being bummed by a cellmate in Wormwood Scrubs he isn't going to be as high profile in future as he is now.

So clearly someone else has to step into his shoes as the most obnoxious MP in Britain. For me there can only be one possible successor- Nadine Dorries. It is in some ways tempting to defend her on the grounds that some of her fiercest critics are complete and utter nutjobs. I'm sure some liberals and socialists were probably willing to give Macshane a pass on account of the loathing he inspired in hardline Eurosceptics- but a good choice of enemies does not a hero make. Whilst I am late to the anti-Dorries bandwagon that's no reason to jump on board with enthusiasm.

There are three main problems with Nadine- she is as dumb as a rock, she is a shameless hypocrite and a relentless self promoter.

Dorries is by her own account a liar- admitting that her blog is mostly fictional. This is a woman who is so devoid of shame or self reflection that she described the revelations about MPs' expenses as a form of torture- putting people who have fleeced the public purse of hundreds of thousands of pounds as latter day Solzhenitsyns. This is a woman who at the height of the outcry into MPs' expenses saw no problem with giving her newly graduated from Bournemouth University daughter, with no experience, a £28000 year job as a PA- even after bleating that she was finding the job market tough (if you are looking for £28000 as an entry level job for an arts graduate, I assume she's an arts graduate,  then maybe that's why you aren't finding work).

This is someone whose lust for self promotion and lack of self awareness is so monumental that after denouncing benefits cheats she goes on a Channel 4 documentary about living on benefits for a week and cheats. This is a woman who believes that anyone who tweets cannot be disabled despite proving that you can be a borderline retard and still blog regularly.

I don't doubt that there have been MPs more stupid than Nadine or more shameless or even more self promoting but no one beats her in two out of three categories.

Except Diane Abbot of course.

Denis Macshane Achieves Rare Double Beclowning.

It's hard to know which is the greater example of Denis Macshane's oafishness in the last 24 hours.

Is it accusing the Tories of supporting the massacres of Jews during WWII (no really) or is it disastrous performance on Newsnight where he tried to defend his claim that there were 25000 trafficked women in the UK (21 minutes in) and his subsequent article in the Guardian defending his fact free position (over 80 comments so far and every single one is critical of Macshane).

He really is horrible, sort of a Labour equivalent of David Mellor hated by his opponents and loathed by his own side.

Denis Macshane Says- "Embrace Racist Xenophobes"

Denis MacShane writes:

The manifesto of the centre-right EPP federation explicitly referred to Europe as a Judeo-Christian concept. No room for Muslims then.

Gosh, well these racist xenophobes sound awful. Let's see what else MacShane has to say:

10. David Cameron was rejected by more than seven out of 10 voters yesterday. He now has to put in place his isolationist EU politics by breaking links with mainstream centre-right parties

So having just denounced the mainstream European centre right parties as racist and xenophobic, he denounces David Cameron for having nothing to do with them.

Just how shameless is the hyper partisan* New Labour MP Denis MacShane? This shameless:

The Tories chez nous are now the party of the super-wealthy as the millionaires' frontbench presided over by Oligarch Osborne and super-rich Cameron demonstrate.

I'm sure I remember that there was some other politician on board the yacht with George Osborne and the oligarch but surely MacShane would have mentioned it if one of his close political allies was on board too.


* MacShane is generally despised on the left as a Blairite ultra, so he isn't a far left figure. It's strange how the most relentlessly (and dishonestly) partisan figures in politics are often the relative centrists rather than the hard liners.
