I see that some people
suggesting that Jill Dando was murdered by Serbian hitmen,
resurrecting a theory which was laughable in 1999. As far as I understand the theory is that after NATO bombed that TV station in Serbia during the Kosovo war, the top Serbian military leaders got together and thought of a way to retaliate by killing the presenter of the Holiday programme. As revenge attacks go it seems a little futile if you don't let the other side know that you did it. Wouldn't they kill a foreign correspondent or an editor? Furthermore seeing as the theory presupposes that Yugoslavia had hitmen in London during the war wouldn't it have made more sense to target someone from the Foreign Office or MOD?

Fair do's, but at a wild guess, do you think Jill Dando was killed by a lone nutcase or a 'professional'?
Everything suggests to me it was the latter.
Mark, I really don't know on the one hand most celebrity murders and serious assaults seem to be carried out by obsessed stalkers, but on the other hand the fact that the shooter appears to have covered his tracks well indicates that it was professional.
If I had to pick one I'd go for a crazed stalker but I don't feel any certainty on the subject.
"...wouldn't it have made more sense .."
Well, there you go. When does a really juicy conspiracy theory ever make sense?
My personal favourite is that she was killed by mistake, having been assumed to be......*dum dum DUM*....Jeffrey Archer's former secretary.
Conspiracy theories don't get much loonier than that...
Wow I hadn't heard that theory before.
It would be a pretty crap hitman who managed to accidentally shoot one of the most famous and recognisable in the country.
This is a good point.
She was nonetheless killed by someone. As it stands, every potential suggestion now seems wrong if not insane.
But one explanation must be correct.
I hadn't heard this before either. Last night on the radio it was said that one of Milosovic's mistresses was a presenter at the Serbian TV centre and was killed when the RAF bombed it, and that Jill Dando had been active in supporting the Kosovan Muslims.
Who knows, maybe this conspiracy theory is not as daft as it seems.
