I saw a copy of the Sun today and this is what page 3 girl Sylvia had to say about the forthcoming Destiny's Child reunion:

Seeing the girls sing on stage again will be amazing. In the words of the American theologian Tyron Edwards "Every parting is a form of death, and each reunion a type of heaven".

Hacking Medical Records- Then And Now.

Gordon Brown claimed that the Sun hacked his son's medical records in order to leak them to the press. This appears to be untrue but it still outraged Labour MPs and supporters.

Of course releasing someone's medical records for their own benefit is despicable.

So it's odd that I don't seem to be able to find any record of Gordon Brown condeming the way Alastair Campbell leaked the medical records of 91 year old Rose Addis because her family complained of her mistreatment by the hospital she was supposed to be receiving reatment from in order to humiliate her.

Ashley Cole Is Not A Paedophile

On "Google news" at the moment there is the following headline:

Cole cheated with girl 4 in US

Thankfully when I clicked the link the headline was subtly yet importantly different:

Cole cheated with girl No4 in States

This is an important difference.

The Importance Of Punctuation.

Newspapers often use quote marks when covering criminal cases in order to not appear to be actually accusing a suspect of a crime, so much so that it must be so routine that they forget why they are using quotation marks in the first place.

I'm guessing this is why when I saw the Sun in the newsagents today it had this headline:

'Night Stalk' rapist charged

Whereas the online edition currently has this subtly different headline:

'Night Stalk rapist' charged

A small but very important difference. Being called a "Night stalker" isn't the bit that they are supposed to treat as unproven, 'Night Stalker' actually sounds kind of awesome, but the 'rapist' is thus far only an accusation.

Families Are Fair Game.

Having achieved the impossible feat of making people feel sorry for Gordon Brown last week, the Sun has decided to go lower.

The Sun presumably opposes the former drugs advisor David Nutt for his views on the relative safety of alcohol, cannabis and horse riding. Which is fair enough but this is really pretty sleazy behaviour on their part- scouring the Facebook pages of his children to take some pictures and quotes to smear them:

It was not known if the professor at London's elite Imperial College has been privy to his daughter Lydia's Facebook pages.

Photos show her and girl pals cavorting with a bottle of spirits in hand - and were uploaded two years before she turned 18.

Meanwhile older lad Johnny, 26, has posted photos of himself prancing NAKED in the snow in Sweden.

The Sun has photos of people prancing around naked on Page 3 every single day ( and good on them for that)! This is just tawdry character assassination to punish Professor Nutt for having a different opinion than the Sun, his children are not in the public eye and frothing about their trivial or non existent misdeeds is underhand.

Tabloid Story Of The Day

I went on illicit affair site for fun and found my husband already there

And then you went to the newspaper to tell everyone!

Then Sara, 40, caught sight of someone she hadn't expected to find.

Staring back from the computer screen was her husband, Paul, 50.

He put his photograph onto the site? She didn't marry him for his brains did she?

Realising the depths to which her marriage had sunk, Sara's world came crashing down.

She explains: "It sounds hypocritical, but I was totally gutted.

Yes because it is hypocritical.

"I'd joined the site on the spur of the moment because I was feeling unattractive.

Well at least there's nothing wrong with her eyesight.

"I've always been big but after getting pregnant with our 15-year-old son Andrew I'd ballooned.

Being pregnant with a 15 year old would be strenuous. I'm sure he's appreciates his mother spilling the beans to the Sun on his parents' pathetic attempted adultery. It must really be making his life at school easier.

While he failed to get any responses, Sara received requests from two men who wanted to meet.

She says: "They were both married but said the spark had gone out of their relationships.

"I was flattered to think other men still found me attractive.

The found you available not 'attractive'.

"I got in touch with them and the messages quickly turned steamy. One of them started pushing for us to meet. I probably would have done - but then Paul found out."

He was furious. A friend had told him Sara had joined the site.

Jesus fucking Christ, even their friends are on the site! Makes you wonder why they had to go online to cheat if they are surrounded by fellow afficianados of that site.

Anyway it continues until there is a happy ending and they get divorced.

The Return Of Chucky

The Sun are trying to revive one of the silliest stories of the 1990s- the claim that the killers of James Bulger were inspired by the horror film Child's Play. Apparantly the two brothers age 10 and 11, who tortured two other children, were also inspired by the film:

SICK horror movie Child's Play, which the "Hell boys" watched, has been linked to a catalogue of crimes.

A female relative of the evil lads revealed their mum had let them watch the 18-cert slasher film when they were aged just "six or seven".

I can see the pattern here, they watched Child's Play and just half a decade later they tortured some kids, therefore Child's Play causes children to attack other children because nothing else might have happened in a brief five year period.

I haven't seen Child's Play and I haven't attacked any children- how much more proof do you need of the perils of the evil film?

Nothing To See Now, Move Along.

I am impressed by the heroic efforts of the Times to play down the illegal bugging affair that their stablemate, the News of the World, has been caught up in. Let's see:

• Whereas all the other newspapers as well as the BBC have it as their top story, the Times relegates to the number four domestic story.
• They make no mention of Rupert Murdoch, who appears to have a greater right to anonymity than Nightjack.
• They focus the story on how it effects David Cameron, as his spin doctor is the former NOTW editor, Andy Coulson.
  
• The normal comments facility is disabled, despite working perfectly well on all other stories.
  

Still their coverage is better than the Sun's, who have decided not to cover this celebrity filled political scandal for reasons of space.

Gaza Covered

Also from the Sun, their coverage of the Gaza crisis is unsurpassed.

The Sun Says....

Over at Conservative Home they have the reactions of some of the newspapers to "Yachtgate", the Sun's editorial is worth quoting:

"The integrity of the BBC is coming under question for the way it has treated the case of the Russian billionaire and his British contacts. Hundreds of viewers are complaining of unbalanced reporting — and with good reason. According to its own internal memo, hundreds of listeners accused the Corporation of bias against the Tories — pointing out that the party received NO cash at all. And it’s strange that the BBC only went into overdrive on the story AFTER George Osborne’s name was linked to oligarch Oleg Deripaska. When just Labour’s Peter Mandelson was involved it boasts it resisted making much of any allegations. Strange, that. And reason enough for their own enquiry into left-wing bias."

The BBC cannot be reformed, it's institutional left wing bias is too deeply ingrained. The Conservatives should cut their bdget massively when they are next in office.
