Non Scandal Of The Day

Personally the evacuation of British citizens from Libya seems to have been both fairly complete, fairly safe and fairly prompt. I honestly can't understand what the whinging is all about. I'm not just defending the government for partisan reasons, I really can't see what all the fuss is about.

Could have been better, could have been worse. I suppose the only fair way to measure this is to see how other countries did.

PS, what amazes me is that Gaddafi (or the other team) didn't occupy the airport as an absolute first step. Isn't this what Lenin taught us?

Occupy the government buildings, the newspapers and the railway stations (possibly telephone exchange if they'd already been invented?) and you might just get away with it.

Nowadays, you'd have to occupy the TV stations and the airport as well, and shut down the internet and mobile phones, but it's the same principle.

Have they got all UK people out then ?

Mark- According to something I read, Libya was historically the best Middle East state at controlling communications but new technology has caught them by surprise.

Anon- Not everyone, but I doubt oil workers in the middle of the desert are at great risk.

Oh well IF the BBC said it's all over it must be all over they wouldn't lie would they?

The BBC has form in being 'selective' with the truth.

Perhaps the professionally offended are getting bored. They need another issue with which to emphathise with.

Not that they even know where Libya is. They don't need to.

PJH- Boring stories about mostly successful stories don't sell newspapers of course.
