I think that just proves the ancient Greeks had a sense of humour. The symbol for "infinity" happens to resemble a huge lady's arse.
Of course the Greeks had a sense of humour, they named islands things like Lesbos.
Thanks Mark for recalling to my mind my old maths teacher's lament each time he recapped the equations of motion in a rotating frame of reference: "I can't write capital omegas that don't look like cows receding into the distance".
