Revival Of Ritual Abuse Myths?
This could be for real but given what happened in the 1980s and 90s this conviction of a supposed cult for sexually abusing children strikes me as worth keeping an eye on.
It was real in the sense that he seems to have had a fascination with 'black magic', but only in the usual 'shock the straights' sense.
It could have been heavy metal music, or the books of John Norman. In other words, just an extra little obsession, like his Rotweillers and Siamese cats, not a genuine, deeply-held belief in Satanism.

Just another way of controlling their victims, surely?
Possibly but the whole thing looks very similar from the outside to the earlier cases- the remote location, the dressing up in robes etc.
It's certainly worth keeping an eye on.
But I think this was real, whereas Broxtowe was (mostly) fantasy.
