Stupid People Still Allowed On The Internet.

Browsing through a bunch of blogs yesterday I came across this site, United Irelander, which as the name suggests is by an ethnic bigot who seems to have no greater achievement than his nationality. Now Irish chauvinists are generally marked by rabid anglophobia and this one is no different. Anyway, here he is offering his er, considered opinions about the Falkland Islands, sorry I mean 'the Malvinas':
It's pretty revolting that the British see fit to cling tightly to these islands off the coast of Argentina and claim they are doing so as a matter of principle.
And also:
the Argentinians regard the islands as part of their nation.
Yes, we have aswivel eyed bogtrotter nationalist making the argument that if a larger nation wants to have possession of small islands many miles off its coast, it has the right to do so regardless of the wishes of the inhabitants. I don't think he's thought this through:

Hey there, Ross. Nice title for your post though I think it would be better as the title of your blog. Then again "Unenlightened commentary" seems pretty apt!

Let's address your post shall we which, sadly, failed to address the point made on my site (either intentionally or unintentionally, who knows?)...

"Yes, we have aswivel eyed bogtrotter nationalist making the argument that if a larger nation wants to have possession of small islands many miles off its coast, it has the right to do so regardless of the wishes of the inhabitants."

"Bogtrotter"? Wow, and you accused me of "anglophobia" and being an ethnic bigot! Didn't know there were many bogs in Dublin, 'Ross'. But I digress...

I stated categorically that in no way should the wishes of the islanders be disregarded. You must not have seen the following posted by myself in the comments section...

"Any attempt to impose sovereignty on unwilling inhabitants would make one as bad as the original British invaders."

"The islanders should not be forced into something they don't want as I made clear already."

"I feel for the Argentinian people but I don't think the inhabitants of the Malvinas can be disregarded. It's not fair."

D'oh! What a shame you were too ignorant to pick up on that. But hey why let the facts get in the way of a good rant, eh Ross? I guess it's easier to make up points and disagree with them. You should try farming mate since you enjoy building straw men so much.

The argument I made was that countries shouldn't desire hanging on to land that they don't regard as being part of their nation. Most people would regard that as pretty reasonable.

Sadly you come across like a typical empire-loving Briton who has to wipe a tear from his eye when thinking back on the "glories" of the past. Glories achieved through massive bloodshed of course. Chin up, old boy! The future's not so bad.

I would finally make the point that far from being anglophobic, I actually take great pleasure in seeing archaic thinking typified by Britons like yourself become the minority view in modern-day England.

Kind regards!

Yes as a perfunctory add on. You had earlier stated:

{ the Argentinian dictatorship sought to reclaim what was, unquestionably, Argentinian land }

Which is perhaps a better indicator of your true opinions about how much say the Falklanders should have as to the sovereignty of their land.

{ "Bogtrotter"? Wow, and you accused me of "anglophobia" and being an ethnic bigot! }

Do I really have to explain that in the context of ridiculing your tedious xenophobia the use of the word 'bogtrotter' is a joke?
