This May Seem Callous

But surely the trapped Chilean miners should not only not be paid whilst they are trapped (because they aren't mining) but surely they should be charged for board and lodgings too.

Rather cool place you've got here. Thanks for it. I like such themes and everything that is connected to this matter. I would like to read more on that blog soon.

They should be paid three times their usual salary, as they are attending their workplace 24 hours a day, rather than just 8.

Just because their employer has not given them a task, does not mean they shouldn't be paid, as they are attending, ready and available for work.

If I don't have any work, I'm not allowed to bugger off and do what I want, so I'm paid for my attendance and availability, rather than specifically for my work.

Well, maybe if they WERE mining, instead of sitting around on their arses, they would be out quicker, and could get on with earning wages. Lazy bastards. Typical nowadays, want every one to come running to help them but are not willing to lift a spade themselves.

I'm with second Anon on this one. Being paid for 24 hours attendance at work seems like the bare minimum they can expect.

Anon & Mark- But they're sleeping a good portion of the time.

Absolutely, sleeping on the job, skiving off, no work being done etc etc

Disciplinary hearing required.

Ross, I'm looking forward to hearing your response to the story of the hordes of 'extra' wives and mistresses turning up at Camp Hope in search of welfare payouts.
