Since the Mo' Toons row the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIS) has been trying to pass all sorts of resolutions at the UN calling for action to prevent the "defamation of religion". Up until now the developed liberal democracies has been almost unanimous in rejecting such a proposal see the breakdown of the January 2008 vote for example.
Not any more though, this time around the USA, which is pretty much the birthplace of religious freedom, has decided to support the latest proposal. This is something being whipped up by Obama's hysterical opponents, this is something that has left Obama's secular supporters aghast.
Nope - it was ridicule

What is defamation of religion? As if all religions are one in some great hotpot. Only a humanist would put such a proposal worded like this.
As a Democrat I find this a bitter pill to swallow. Obama has consistently done little or nothing for secular causes, apart from the reversal of the Mexico City Policy, which I firmly supported & which gave me hope for his presidency.
I suppose his pro-faith stance can be justified on the grounds that he is a politician & has many devout supporters, but it's still shite.
This creeping religious influence, in this country & abroad, is one of the few things that make me seriously want to just give up & go & spend the rest of my life standing in a field.
So adherents of a religion may verbally attack atheists and agnostics and all they hold dear but the reverse is illegal?
Hang on a second .. .. ..
Does Obama worship count as a religion? if so I can see a motive for supporting this resolution.
"I suppose his pro-faith stance can be justified on the grounds that he is a politician & has many devout supporters..."
Yes, I remember how Bush was always defended with this reaso...
Oh. Wait...
"Does Obama worship count as a religion?"
Oddly enough, it seems to go hand in hand with Green worship and belief in AGW...
Saul, don't blaspheme.
